It sits approximately 3.5 cm above the map, and can easily swivel into place when needed and out of the way when not needed. Improvements include a larger lens; a new nylon lock-nut to reduce loosening at the connection point of lens and post; and a bigger, wider attachment of lens to post, to reduce breakability at the connection point.
This new magnifying lens for your compass fits on all brands of thumb compass. It comes in a left hand or right hand model, and attaches to your compass using the thumb strap. Created and sold by Swedish orienteer Johan Ek-Larsson, this magnifying lens is extremely sturdy and durable. The lens itself is of high quality.
The Str8 magnifying lens has a new design and structure. It still attaches to any Str8 compass using the thumb strap and has the same adjustable angle (plus or minus 20 degrees) that the Str8 thumb compass has. The tower has been improved for greater strength and the lens mounting now includes a hand tensioner to prevent a loose and swinging lens. The lens includes stickers which can be placed on the lens to match and supplement the compass' direction line.
